# Instagram will not connect

InstaFeedStory connects only to public Instagram profiles. It verifies the username before starting the first media sync.

## Account not found

Open the profile directly on Instagram and copy the current username. Usernames can change, and an old profile link may no longer match.

Enter the plain username, `@username`, or full profile URL. Remove links to individual posts or Reels.

## Private account

Private Instagram accounts are not supported. Change the profile to public before connecting, then try again.

You do not need to share the Instagram password with InstaFeedStory or support.

## Unable to verify the account

Instagram verification or the media provider can be temporarily unavailable. Wait a few minutes and try again once.

If the same public profile still cannot be verified, contact support and provide the username in text. Do not send passwords, login codes, cookies, or API credentials.

## Reconnect needed

If an existing connection has expired, the Instagram card on Home shows **Reconnect needed**. Select **Reconnect** to restart syncing for the same username.

Use **Disconnect** only when you intend to take the current feed offline or switch to another public account.
